Alex has a history as a bit of a bad boy, a bit of a larrikin. His relationship with his father, Harry Ryan, has always been explosive. He's been in more than one fist fight with his brother Nick as well. He's a risk taker, a former rodeo star, a favourite with woman and an easy friend to the men he works with and around. He's a great farmer too, if not a great stickler for detail, and he has the respect of all who know him well.

Jodi Fountain
Jodi is an exuberant young woman who has matured since McLeod's Daughters premiered in 2001, when she was an 18-year-old with ambitions outside the world of farming. She was born at Drovers Run, the daughter of housekeeper Meg who moved to the property with her husband Kevin, a stock hand, before he left them. When she became a teenager, Jack McLeod paid for Jodi to attend a girls' boarding school and she has dreamed of a glamorous life ever since. But when Jodi's year 12 exam results were a disappointment, she reluctantly joined the work force at Drovers Run. Although Jodi thought that working on Drovers Run would be a real drag, what she has learnt is love, loyalty and a lot about who she really is.

De karakters en levensvisie van de twee zussen verschillen sterk van elkaar waardoor hun samenwerking en onderlinge relatie - vooral in het begin - vaak stroef verloopt. Hoewel ze nog veel moet leren, zorgt Tess' spontane en levendige persoonlijkheid voor een frisse wind in het bedrijf die ook de broers Alex (Aaron Jeffery) en Nick (Myles Pollard) van het aangrenzende landgoed Killarney niet onberoerd laat.
Nick Ryan
Nick is Alex's younger brother. He has inherited his father's head for business and has a double degree in Agronomy and Business. Despite a permanent limp, Nick is an active farm manager and in 2005, continues to negotiate the difficult terrain of the partnership with his father at Killarney. Nick's relationship with Harry Ryan has always been problematic. But in the end Harry admires his son's independence and ability.

Meg and Claire discover more about Becky's home life when she temporarily returns to work at her parents' truck stop. Episode 7 - Pride and Joy A feral bull is wreaking havoc on Drover's Run, and Harry Ryan uses the opportunity to stake his own claim on the girls' property despite Alex's opposition. Episode 8 - Stir Crazy A steamy night gives away Meg's secret lover, and Claire puts her life on the line against a wild stallion that comes in the night to steal her prized mare. Stevie Hall
Stevie had always been reckless by nature, with an anti-authoritarian bent that got her into strife. The past 10 years have been filled with wild and crazy times crewing a prawn trawler, trekking with camels, pulling beers in a topless bar and making a name for herself on the rodeo circuit. Stevie was a champion on the rodeo circuit when she first met Claire. She had a reputation as a wild and crazy rider, willing to take risks that others would not. Athletic, physically strong and emotionally independent, the rodeo circuit suited Stevie's love of change and movement, action and excitement. She had plenty to do with organising events, and worked well with the blokes - an ideal combination of skills for the job of station manager at Drovers Run.

Tess McLeod
Tess is a vivacious firebrand who found a new life in the challenging paradise of rural Australia. She was born at Drovers Run but left as a child, returning as an adult after the death of her father to build a new partnership on the land with her sister Claire. With Claire tragically swept from her life, in 2004 Tess had to find the strength to rebuild her own life and take control of the vast property. The women around her gave her comfort and support, and in particular her prickly relationship with Stevie Hall gradually blossomed into a warm friendship. Her love for Nick Ryan grew and although there were obstacles all the way to the altar, their wedding at the end of the year seemed to set Tess on a secure path for life. But still there were problems, and with the arrival of Nick's son to Sally, Tess ended the year fighting to save her marriage and find her place again among the women and men she loves.
